WHY FOOTBALLS?

Remember your excitement when you first played the sport you love? Remember your sense of freedom as you ran and played? You had fun and got a lot of exercise, while competing with your friends. For many people around the globe, playing the world’s most popular sport – football – kicking a ball around is just that simple.

 

But imagine being unable to afford a football? Instead, some children have to kick around an unresponsive “ball” of recycled plastic bags, bound together with tape, and dream of the real thing.

 

Now you have the opportunity to spread the joy of sport by donating a football. Give pleasure and excitement, while promoting team-building, to disadvantaged children in developing nations in Africa, South America, and elsewhere.

 

It’s just a football, you say. But the effect of your contribution will be amazing. Schools distributing donated footballs see increased attendance in the classroom. Recreation and play strengthen childhood bonds, and healthy competition displaces damaging conflict. Other initiatives have noted the effectiveness of this simple and concrete approach to enhancing children’s lives with the gift of sport.

 

We’re offering Canadians and others around the globe a unique chance to support this growing worldwide movement. You could be the one to decide where we donate next; any help you give is greatly appreciated, and not just by us.

 

THE COS FOOTBALL GIVEAWAY: SOCIAL NETWORK CONCEPT

The COS Football Giveaway is an “open source” social network initiative. You can help our Vision become a reality, as a member of the COS Football Giveaway team.

 

Currently, we have team members of the COS Football Giveaway in Canada and Burundi, but we’re seeking many others: football players, coaches, and organizers; the media; physiotherapists and other health and wellness professionals; and people in the travel and transportation industries. You can all help us meet our goals. (Click here to find out about the project and how you can contribute.) Even if you don’t think you can contribute much just now, perhaps you could suggest a contact who might be interested in becoming a Supporter, Donor, and/or Sponsor of this global initiative.

 

Make a suggestion. You could outline for us why we should donate footballs to a specific location, or even connect us with additional suppliers of sports equipment. We’re in the business of building teams, both here, and in the schools of the developing world, and invite you to play on our side.
